Tour Terms & Conditions

Overview

We strive to take you to some of the most scenic regions on the continents, and give you the opportunity to see and photograph incredible landscapes and wildlife. Your tour leader has in-depth knowledge of the locations being visited, understands photography, and enhances your experience by taking care of all the itinerary’s logistics — transportation, housing, and meals.

Many of our trips are to remote areas of the planet, and we try and stay close to the “cool stuff.” This means that accommodations may vary from nice hotels to more basic ones (but always with running water and beds).

It helps if you bring a sense of humor and an understanding that weather and other local conditions may change the itinerary occasionally. It does NOT happen often, and we do have back-up plans should this situation occur.

We try to offer the best facilities and food available in a locale, but sometimes this may be different than what you are used to from home. Usually most meals are included, so please advise us if you have any special dietary needs. We try and accommodate them, but it may require some effort on your behalf in some countries.

We rate each trip on level of difficulty, so please contact us if you have any concerns about the specific requirements for each trip. All of our tours vary in terms of how strenuous they are; even trips marked “Easy” may require getting into and out of large vehicles. You are under no obligation to participate in all activities, and every effort will be made to accommodate your requests.

We try to minimize travel time where possible, but roads can be long and bumpy on occasion, however the benefit is that we will access remote and unique areas of our planet.

Reservations, etc.

Reserving your spot: To reserve your spot we ask for a deposit of 30% of the tour cost. A portion of this deposit is non-refundable (please see Cancellation and refund policy below). The balance for your tour is due 90 days prior to departure. All prices are quoted in U.S. dollars and we request payment in U.S. dollars via bank wire transfer, money order or check.

Cancellation and refund policy: In the event that you must cancel, we ask that you send A Life of Travel notification in writing. The following penalties will apply:

  • 120 days or more prior to departure: $500 per person for tours totaling $5,000 or less; $1,000 per person for tours totaling more than $5,000

  • 60 through 119 days prior to departure: 50% of expedition fare

  • 1 through 59 days prior to departure: 100% of expedition fare

Once a tour has departed, we cannot refund any unused portions of the trip. The above policy also applies to all extensions made in conjunction with the tour.

Weather Disclaimer: There shall be no refund for weather delay or cancellation because of weather before arrival or during the scheduled tour. We are not responsible for any additional costs that may be incurred by weather delays or cancellations due to weather, flight delays, or otherwise.

Trip cancellation and interruption insurance: We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation and interruption insurance as coverage against any unforeseen circumstances that may force you to cancel or leave a tour while it’s in progress.

Currency fluctuations and other rising costs: As currencies do fluctuate around the world and fuel-cost and other travel expense increases may occur, it may be necessary for us to add a rate surcharge at any time before departure if there are exceptional cost increases beyond our control.
